Stirling have kicked off their season in dramatic fashion winning all their matches including Pearson and Collegiate to lead the SA Schools Girls Water Polo Rankings for this week.

SACS continues to maintain their stranglehold on the SA Schools Top 40 Rankings although the gap between them and chasing pack has gradually shrunk.

A strong showing of 12 wins on the trot by Stirling takes them to their highest position to date on the SA School’s Top 35 Rankings which still sees Reddam enjoying the limelight at the pinnacle of the table.

We have an unchanged top three on this week’s SA Schools Top 40 Rankings although Clifton have closed the gap on St John’s College as they push to finish the year strongly.

With the water polo season poised to begin we look forward to seeing if any team is able to catch Reddam who played brilliantly in the early part of 2015 to rise to the top of the SA Schools Rankings for Girls.

The water polo season resumes and already the strength of the front runners is evident from the winter fixtures and preseason matches that have already taken place. SACS at this stage take up the cudgel as the leading team on the SA Schools Water Polo Rankings but will be hotly pursued by some highly skilled teams from around the country.

Reddam Constantia has timed their season to perfection and in the final weeks of the season move into the top spot on the SA School Sports Rankings for Girls.

Reddam are unbeaten after 15 matches this season and enjoyed a comfortable win over Westerford this week to nudge them into the premier position.

A rampant Reddam House conquered all and sundry at the Old Petrians Water Polo Tournament to surge up the SA School Sports Water Polo Rankings for Girls where they now occupy the second spot fractionally behind St. Mary’s Waverley.

SACS climbs up a place into second spot on the SA School Sports Water Polo Rankings after ending up runners up in the Maitland Series where they were just pipped at the post by Bishops.

A major upset was conjured up by Northwood during the past week when they scored a stunning victory over the KZN powerhouse Clifton which has caused the 2014 leading team to tumble out of the top five in the SA School Sports Water Polo Rankings for Boys.

A mighty win by St Mary’s Waverley over Roedean in the final of the Old Mutual/ Rodean Prestige Cup sees the Johannesburg water polo powerhouse take yet another trophy in their long and illustrious history in the sport.

Pearson have hit the front early in the 2015 Water Polo season with some strong performances so far, and at this early stage of proceedings command the top spot in the SA School Sports Water Polo Rankings for girls.

Several teams are included in the SA School Sports Water Polo Rankings this week after playing the minimum of two matches to qualify for inclusion.

The Boy’s & Girl’s Water Polo Results from the past week:

With a couple of tournaments that have already been completed this season we take a look at the early form that some of the leading teams are displaying so far this year.

A brilliant display by Clifton and Selborne College during the Grey College Tournament set the stage for a terrific final between the two top teams. However with the score locked at 3-3, a thunderstorm would deny either team the victory as the match was declared a draw with the threat of lighting proving too dangerous for play.

Water Polo: Results from the Past Week

The 2015 Water Polo season promises to be as competitive as ever with several teams capable of producing some big results against the traditionally strong teams.

Glenwood , DHS and Clifton seem locked in a bitter feud following an incident involving key members of all three teams and coaching staff that has brought school water polo under the spot light for all the wrong reasons.

The season is all but over and we are looking at a fairly stable top ten in the latest SA Schools Water Polo Rankings.

St. Stithians, St. Mary’s Waverley, Pearson and Roedean all lined up to try and prevent the number one team in South Africa, Reddam House, from winning another tournament as they played it out at the Saint Invitational this past week.

Clifton holds on to their number one spot in the South African Schools Water Polo Rankings although they faced perhaps their stiffest challenge of the year at the Saints Water Polo Invitational hosted by St. Stithians.
