Midway through the 2014 rugby season and we take a look at the Combined (First XV, U16, U15 & U14) Powerade Performance Rankings of the top 100 schools in South Africa.

Published in National

Six wins in a row helps to boost Selborne College into the top ten of the Powerade Performance Top 95 Rankings as we move into the second half of the season one of the most eagerly watched age group.

Published in National

The Powerade Performance U16 Rankings takes on a familiar appearance after several of the leading teams took a deserved break during last week, although there has been some movement on the table.

Published in National

There is very little change amongst the leading 10 teams in the U14 Powerade Performance Rankings although Dale College stumble downwards after getting ransacked by Grey High School.

Published in National

Helpmekaar stay on top of the U15 Powerade Performance Rankings for another week but they face their toughest challenge of the season this week when they face a fired up Menlopark in a match that could decide who ultimately is crowned king of the U15’s.

Published in National

There is no change in the top three on the U16 Powerade Performance Top 85 Rankings with Jeppe, Grey and Monument still well placed to make a charge for the leading position.

Published in National

If ever the rankings were going to be put to the test it would be when Paul Roos Gym and Paarl Boy’s High locked horns in one of the most fiercely contested matches of the season.

Published in National

Jeppe continue to slay all comers in the U16 Powerade Performance Rankings and this time it was the turn of Affies to taste defeat at the hands of the country’s leading U16 team.

Published in National

Paul Roos Gym finally burst into the Top 3 after completing their seventh consecutive win when they demolished a hapless SACS over the weekend.

Published in National

It remains a close race at the top of the Powerade Performance U14 Rankings with Boishaai and Glenwood leading the chasing pack.

Published in National

Wins by all of the top 5 teams have kept this week’s Powerade Performance rankings for the U15’s unchanged at the top of the log, although Boishaai have closed the gap on Affies and Helpmekaar by virtue of having beaten stronger opposition over the weekend.

Published in National

In a fiercely contested match between Boishaai and Grey College it was Grey who came out on top with a very narrow win and in so doing reinforced their dominance in the 2014 Powerade Performance Rankings.

Published in National

It will rarely get any bigger than a match between Boishaai vs Grey College this season. The SA School’s No.1 and No.2 faced off in what will undoubtedly be one of the 2014 epics this weekend and whoever can walk away with the win will arguably be the top team in the country.

Published in National

Boishaai have now gone a magnificent eight matches without conceding a loss and are sitting at the top of the U14 Powerade Performance Rankings for yet another week.

Published in National

A convincing win by Jeppe over Pretoria Boy’s High keeps them firmly entrenched on the top of the rankings in what is turning out to be a memorable season for the Jeppe u16’s.

Published in National

Boishaai make their move into the top three of the U15 Powerade Performance Rankings for the first time after successfully shutting out Boland Landbou in a powerful display over the weekend.

Published in National

Every one of the top three won their matches over the weekend which resulted in little movement at the top end of the table and Grey College remains the leading First XV team in South Africa with yet another win.

Published in National

Affies take on KES in the Battle of the Jukskei with both teams moving closer to their best form of the season.

Published in National

Grey College lost their unbeaten status last weekend when they took on Affies and found themselves up against a formidable opponent who outplayed them in most departments.

Jeppe climb to the top of the U16’s Powerade Performance rankings after recording their sixth win of the season when they beat St.Stithians convincingly over the weekend.

Published in National

Grey College stretched their unbeaten season to 13 matches when they were made to fight for every inch of turf in their match against Affies over the weekend.

Published in National

Wildeklawer and the Wynberg Rugby Festival were the showcase events over the past week and the pedigree of school boy rugby that was on show was of the highest standard.

Published in National

Wynberg make some serious inroads on the Powerade Performance U15 Rankings this week and are showing the form that could see them take the top spot if they keep on churning out the victories.

Published in National

Grey College have been sublime so far this season and have consistently put away some strong opposition with big scores. In all but one match they have gone over the 40 point mark and so far they have only conceded three points to the opposition in all their matches!

Published in National

Helpmekaar make a dramatic entrance into the Powerade Performance U15 Rankings and immediately clinch the top spot having now gone unbeaten so far this season against some stiff opposition.

Published in National

Published in National

Jeppe extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a comfortable win over St. Benedict’s to remain one of the leading U16 rugby teams in country.

Published in National

A season of some of the world’s best school boy rugby has all but come to a close and for the players who ran out for the last time for their school they will be left with that supreme pride that comes from wearing their teams badge and playing to their best ability. A memory that will live with them for decades.

It was a tightly fought season which saw three teams vying for the top spot almost from the start of the season and at various stages all three, Affies, Outeniqua had a taste at being the number one side in the country.

However it is perhaps fitting that it is Affies who can lay claim to the top team in South Africa after completing the season without being defeated, without drawing and winning every single match. It is a supreme effort by a side that played the country’s most powerful teams and still remained competitive scoring heavily in most of their matches.

It is perhaps a pity that somewhere along the line Affies and Paarl Gim never met, as on paper there was very little to choose between the two teams, however Gimmies were held to a surprise draw by Oakdale in what was their only ‘blemish’ on an otherwise spotless season so perhaps finishing in second spot is justified.

A strong finish by Grey College, after an indifferent start to their season put pressure on Outeniqua for the third spot, but the consistency of Outeniqua helped them to finish in the Top three after suffering just the one defeat at the hands of Paarl Gim.

It was another great season and our thanks to the thousands of players, coaches and the avid fans of schoolboy rugby that showed sustained interest in the rankings, offered advice and suggestions and supported us. Rankings are not an absolute science but by factoring in the strength of the opponents, margin of victories and the actual results it is hoped that a team’s current form can be judged.
