Paarl Boys High are the big movers on this week’s Belgotex Sports U16 Top 100 Rankings after hammering Bishops last weekend in a one-sided display and they now find themselves in the top 10

It has been a long season already for Paarl Boys High who begun their 2017 season with a successful tour to New Zealand, yet despite having to face the best on offer they remain unbeaten and on top of this week’s Belgotex Sports First XV Top 100 Rankings for yet another week.

It is Selborne College who make the most significant move up the table to move into the coveted Top 5 zone on this week’s U16 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings.

We have a virtually unchanged U15 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings for this week with the top five positions remaining the same mainly due to those top teams all recording victories over the past weekend.

After two weeks since the last publishing of the U14 Belgotex Sports Top 100 Rankings we still have the unconquered Outeniqua team out in front although the gap between them and the chasing pack has shrunk slightly.

Oakdale turned in their performance of the season when they took on the leading team in South Africa, Paarl Boys High, and came within a whisker of recording the biggest upset of 2017. However Boishaai clung on to a 36-31 victory to keep their unbeaten status intact and lead this week’s Belgotex Sports First XV Top 100 Rankings.

EG Jansen join the top five leading teams in this week’s U15 Belgotex Sports Top 100 after another heavy win during the past week.

Paul Roos Gym head this week’s Belgotex Sports U16 Top 100 Rankings for another week following a strong performance against Paarl Boys High who they managed to out wrestle in a tightly contested match.

St John’s College find themselves entering amongst the top three in what has become a dream season for the Johannesburg team who have notched up some highly impressive results along with big score-lines. Michaelhouse were their latest victim who they systematically dismantled in a powerful display. St. John’s has now stretched their unbeaten run to 12 matches and could well finish even higher as the season progresses.

Menlopark are another team that join the top five this week and save for their loss to Oakdale earlier this season have benefited from a fine run of form.

In last year’s U14 Rankings it was a two horse race between Glenwood and Outeniqua with the Kwagga’s timing their run perfectly to pip Glenwood to take the top spot. The 2016 school rugby season has finished and once again we have witnessed the sport played in its purest form at an astonishingly high level.

Perhaps the closest of all the rankings the U16’s put on a tough race for the top with no less than six teams at various stages of the season enjoying life at the top of the table. However Monnas who consistently displayed a great mixture of defensive and attacking rugby end the season as the top U16 team in the country.

It was an extremely close season with Paul Roos, Grey College and Selborne all in the mix at various stages of the season. Yet few would disagree with Paul Roos Gym finishing up as the leading U15 team in South Africa following a record 15 straight wins.

With virtually one week to go before the 2016 Rugby season comes to an end, Paul Roos Gym timed their rise to the top of the U15 Rankings perfectly with a bitterly close victory over Grey College.

High-flying Outeniqua got the fright of their season when they took on Paarl Gim and almost saw their impressive unbeaten record vanish at the final hurdle. However the class of the Outeniqua 2016 U14’s came through at the end to maintain their unblemished run and remain at the top of the U14 Rankings this week.

With only a few more rugby matches to be played by a handful of schools in 2016 we are looking at a pretty stable rankings table with Boishaai still stacking up the wins and leading this week’s Totalsports Top 100 Rankings.
