With the resumption of the school rugby season it was back to the same kind of results that we have become accustomed to in 2019.

On Saturday 27th of May 2017, Premier Interschools once again brings a top-class derby to all lovers of schoolboy rugby. This time around the annual interschools between Paarl Boys’ High and Paul Roos Gimnasium is broadcast live at 12 noon from the Brug Street grounds of Boishaai.

Rugby: Slaptjips Goes Back to School!

Paarl Gimnasium, looking to continue their quest to be the best rugby school in the country took a bold step in that direction this week as they appoint Pieter ‘Slaptjips’ Rossouw to be their new Director of Rugby.

Wynberg Boys High' School First Rugby team have endured an uphill battle in 2015 thus far. A combination of a plethora of injuries and a very modest matric pool of rugby players, have seen them field as many as 14 grade 11's in their starting fifteen at times this season.

Rugby: When Props Collide!

It is not every day that the boys in the front row steal the limelight as most of the time their sweat and effort is clouded in the grunts and groans of the scrums and mauls.

Is this the greatest Boishaai side ever?

When one strings together the words “Bishops” and “rugby”, you are left with a term that is synonymous with rugby in its purest, running form. The coast-to-coast, highly skilled, keeping-the-ball-alive form of rugby has long earned many a rave review from neutrals all around the country.

Rugby: The SACS Moment of Brilliance

The bounce of the ball and a moment of brilliance by SACS outside centre Ciaran Dayaram  sealed the fate of Affies in what could be SACS biggest win of the season as they went on to steal the historic victory 13-10.

The Western Cape might not be blessed with too much in the form of gold, platinum and other precious minerals, but if you are looking to boost your rugby team it seems that there is no place better to mine for players.

Every year the iconic Newland Rugby Stadium plays host to the much anticipated Western Province Schools Rugby Day. The W.P. Rugby Union provides all the top rugby playing schools an opportunity to get a feel for the upcoming season, help shake off some of the pre-season rust and give some their first taste of First XV rugby.

Eben EtzebethWith the 2014 edition of Coca Cola Craven Week upon us, Springbok and Stormers player Eben Etzebeth talks about his memories of his Craven Week.

It was billed as one of the must see matches of the season, Paul Roos Gym vs Paarl Boys High, it doesn't get any bigger with regard to tradition and the quality of rugby on display.

RUGBY: SACS 150th Anniversary Rugby Dinner

The oldest school in South Africa, the South African College High School (SACS), last week celebrated the 150th anniversary of rugby being played at the school with a formal dinner held in the Oaks Room at Newland’s Cricket Stadium. SACS was founded in 1829 and the first recorded game of rugby union was played at the school in 1863.

Rugby: Rondebosch Go Purple

Rondebosch Boys’ High School 1st XV will wear purple socks at this year’s Mutual & Federal Premier Interschools derby match vs Bishops in support of the JAG Foundation’s anti-bullying campaign - JAGBullyProof which culminates in National Bullying Awareness Day on 26 July 2013.

Western Province has looked at five schools to form the basis of their U18 Craven Week side with Boishaai gracing the side with no fewer than eight players.

To paraphrase the words of Julius Ceasar, they came, they saw and they conquered. The Outeniqua unstoppable force met an immovable object from Paarl on Saturday and the object did not move. In fact it actually pushed back.

Rugby: Outeniqua v Gimmies - Clash for No.1?

They were at  Paarl Boys High last Saturday, then off to play a match at the Point of Mossel Bay and their next fixture leads back to Paarl to take on Gimmies this coming Saturday. That’s what it takes for SA’s No.1 team, the Outeniqua Juggernaut as it Jigga Jigga’s its way along this season.

An early morning road trip down to Paarl from George for a schoolboy rugby match and what a game it was.

Rugby: Paarl Gimmies U16 Tournament

PG 16Paarl Gimnasium (Gim) will be hosting their 21st annual under 16 rugby tournament in March 2012. Twenty four of the country's top schools will play matches on March 30, April 1, & 3.

School tournaments traditionally focus on the under 18 level. The Gim tournament offers younger players a chance to compete against top schools outside their province on an almost provincial level.

The top six FNB Top 20 schools of 2012 participate in the Gim tournament.

The wealth of attractions offered by Paarl, the Cape Winelands and the fact that Boishaai’s under 15 rugby tournament takes place at the same time, contributes to the tournament’s growth in size to something similar to other famous School Rugby Festivals up-country.

The nickname “Tigers” was created when Tygerberg High school was founded back in 1954. Nowadays, the familiar sound of the famous song, “Eye of the Tiger,” inspires the proud and passionate home-supporters of this Parow-based school on rugby match days.

If there was an award for one of South Africa’s most improved rugby schools of the year, then Wynberg Boys’ High School would certainly be among the candidates.

Two years ago, the spectators of the Kearsney Easter Festival were treated to a clinical display of rugby football that quite honestly, has not been seen on a South African schoolboy rugby field.

Mr. Chippie Soloman, the manager of the Stormers rugby team has been involved in rugby for over 32 years now but one of his proudest moments in his career happened last week when he handed this son Chad, his Craven Week colours.
