The 2019 school rugby season has begun for many of the schools across the country in what promises to be another jam packed, action filled season.

For some it may have come as a shock that six Craven Week rugby players tested positive for steroids at this year’s Craven Week Tournament for others it came as no surprise at all.

The 2018 school rugby season has finished and once again we have witnessed the sport played in its purest form at an astonishingly high level.

U14 Rugby: The Final U14 Rankings for 2018

It would have come as a bitter disappointment for Menlopark last week when they faced Helpmekaar and were forced to concede their first defeat of what has been an incredible season.

Grey College managed to conclude their season with a well worked win over Paul Roos Gym and in so doing confirm their status as the leading U15 team on this week’s U15 Top 100 Rankings.

Monument sent Helpmekaar crashing out of the top 10 zone on this week’s U16’s Top 100 Rankings after putting in one of their best performances of the season.

It was billed as the ‘season final’ as two of the country’s most successful teams in 2018 locked horns in what turned out to be a bitterly close affair.

This Week’s U14 Top 100 Rankings is virtually unchanged from last week although Grey High School has managed to gain a place in the top 10.

Bishops managed to take a step up on this week’s U15 Top 100 Rugby rankings thanks in part to a storming win over St Andrews College last weekend.

Bishops manage to time their run to the top of the U16 Top 100 Rankings well with a good victory over St.Andrews College and in so doing force their way into the top 5 zone on this week’s rankings.

Selborne College determined to finish the season on a high extracted all they had to blunt the challenge of Grey High School last week and is so doing consolidate their position in the top five of this week’s First XV Top 100 Rankings.

What a team the Paarl Gim U14’s are in 2018 as they week-in and week-out brush aside some of the finest opposition in the country.

Grey College notched up another win for the 2018 season when the outplayed Glenwood and firmed up their grip on the No.1 spot on this week’s U15 Top 100 Rankings.

Grey College climb into the top three zone after a comprehensive win over Glenwood but also due to Helpmekaar coming second in their tough outing against Monnas.

It was an incredible weekend of some of the finest school boy rugby you could witness anywhere on the globe with several of the powerhouses doing battle and putting on a spectacle to be proud of.

Paarl Gim maintain a strangle hold on the No. 1 spot on this week’s U14 Top 100 Rankings and it is looking increasingly unlikely that any team will catch them.

A strong finishing Affies team have now moved up to position three on this week’s U15 Top 100 Rankings following a dismantling of Waterkloof last week.

School Feature: Epworth School

Epworth School, which caters for girls and boys from Grades RRR to 7 and girls only from Grades 8 to 12, boasts a strong sporting ethos that promotes inclusive participation and champions excellence.

It was a welcomed return to the field by Grey College who showed that although taking some week’s off from action had lost none of their hunger to win.

After a lengthy absence from the field Grey College turned on the taps in a massive display against Grey High School that will send shockwaves to their remaining opponents Glenwood and Paul Roos Gym.
