Glenwood Act Swiftly Against Dirty Play!

Schoolboy rugby administrators have praised Glenwood High School for the swift action taken following the foul play incident in the schools first team clash with Maritzburg College on the weekend, and reaffirmed the stand against foul play in all school sport. Glenwood High School hooker Senzo Mtshali was sent off for punching in the closing stages of Glenwood's defeat at the hands of Maritzburg College in Pietermaritzburg on Saturday.

Played at a break neck pace Paul Roos and Boishaai locked horns in what turned out to be a great spectacle of school rugby. Paarl Boys who had managed to sweep all and sundry aside this season besides the formidable Grey College were the favourites going into the match but Paul Roos exploded into life in what turned out to be their most impressive performance to date.

Fred Zeilinga- Glenwood Captain

freddyThere are just so many talented schoolboy rugby players in the country that to get earmarked as one, you have to stand head and shoulders above the rest because it takes a very special type of school boy rugby player to get noticed these days. Jake White, the legendary World Cup winning Coach has been involved in school rugby for decades and he knows talent when he sees it and if he points out that a certain schoolboy has the potential to make the move up to the professional ranks, you naturally take notice.

Bishops Too Good For Bosch

High flying Bishops travelled to Rondebosch this weekend and made short work of a Rondebosch side that has not fired on all cylinders this season. Bishops have played some very attractive rugby and it came as no suprise that they ran out 38-10 victors.

Glenwood Humbled By College!

It was the one match that KZN had been anticipating the entire season, the modern powerhouse Glenwood against Maritzburg College who have long been viewed as the province's premier sports school. The truth is thatJacobs College have been forced to bend the knee to Glenwood in recent times and the neutral would have expected more of the same in the 2010 edition of this epic match. How wrong we were.

Grey's "Tiny" Number 8- Neill Jordaan!

IMG_0452_-_CopyNicknames and other forms of names hung upon a person by others can be a strange thing. They can be random names, or they can be shortened forms of full names, or they can suggest something about the person, like the Hulk. And then there's the case where the nickname deliberately does not describe the person. For example take the 18 year old Free Stater who goes by the name "Tiny", he stands 1.9 metres tall in his socks and weighs in at a hefty 104 kilograms of rock hard muscle, runs like a sprinter and is virtually unstoppable. Clad in the Grey College Eighth Man jersey Neill "Tiny" Jordaan is a player who will without doubt be spoken about for many seasons to come and there is the mouth watering prospect of the young Jordaan seriously challenging Pierre Spies in the years ahead for the Green & Gold!

One look at the Free State Craven Week side for 2010 and you immediately see the dominance of Grey College in the province. In 2009 Grey had 15 out of the 22 selected and this year they have packed the Craven Week side with 18 players!

Boland Landbou plow through SACS Defense! Boland Landbou needed a win quickly to avoid dropping out the Top 20 and the 33-16 against SACS might just have saved them. It was not exactly a pretty match as there were plenty of mistakes to make the ref busy and whistle was blown regularly.

What a game! Northwood who have struggled to pick up the pieces after enduring a nightmare season in 2008 have finally fulfilled a dream that has take them over 50 years to attain, beating the traditional super power in KZN Michaelhouse!
