Hockey Report: Bishops v Paul Roos

It was the clash of the titans as the best side in Boland traveled to the Cape to take on one of Western Cape's finest.

jtBishops began the game at a high pace and were all over their opponents right from the onset, creating several opportunities in the early exchanges. Paul Roos had a couple of counter attacks, and a few chances, but nothing substantial enough to break through the Bishops defence. Bishops had 2 PC opportunities, but failed to convert either and were nearly caught on the counter by Paul Roos. The breakthrough finally came as some interplay up the right saw the ball end up with Drummond being able to strike it one time into the bottom corner. Bishops with their tails up, had a second soon after as Tredoux deflected one home. 2-0 at halftime.

Bishops had a chance early on to increase their lead, but didn't take it. This half, more evenly contested, saw both sides have several wonderful chances to score, but neither could take the first few to come their way.
Finally Bishops put their 3rd in the back of the net when some great baseline work saw the ball roll to Plimsoll and in to the back of the net.
Bishops were reduced and ten men for 2 minutes and this is when Paul Roos struck. Making the extra man count, they moved the ball around the outside, and into the Bishops circle and put it away, but with only 7 minutes to go, it was a little bit too late. The game was once again put beyond doubt as the keeper took out Tredoux, one on one, and the stroke was awarded. Tredoux made no mistake from the p-spot, and the game was all over.
