Hockey: New No.1 in the SA School's Top 65 Rankings

With only one more match to play in 2014 Maritzburg College snatch the number one spot in the South African Schools Top 60 Hockey Rankings for boys with a dominant display against Glenwood.

School Hockey Rankings for Boys in South AfricaMaritzburg College who have traditionally been a powerhouse in boys’ hockey in the country regained their form and class of yesteryear this season by steadily improving and look set to finish strongly.

Needing nothing less than a win against the competitive Glenwood side, College went on the offensive from the start at a frenetic pace and drew first blood from a penalty corner. To their credit the Green Machine responded well moving the ball around the astro with purpose and precision which finally paid off as they levelled the score after a successful penalty corner.

However College simply had too much firepower in the second half and their continuous pressure on the Glenwood goal saw them net three easy tap-ins from the back post to win 4-1.

Maritzburg College now meet Grey College in their final match of the 2014 season where a draw or a win should see them finish as the leading team in school hockey.
