First XI Cricket: This Week's Powerade Rankings: 29/02/2016

It is a relatively undisturbed top 10 in this week’s Powerade Top 60 Rankings although for the first time in the season Affies break into the ten elite teams with a strong finish to their season.

Affies hit a purple patch a few weeks back to launch an all out charge to the top of the table as they brushed aside Waterkloof, Pietersburg and Pretoria Boys High in recent matches to take a well deserved spot in the top 10.

However we still have St.Stithians commanding the top of the ladder with what has turned out to be a sensational run of victories and few would dispute their status as the leading team in the country. Saints underlined their dominance with a 56 run win over KES this past week to claim the Johnny Waite trophy.

There were several standout performances on the field last week with Menlopark’s Sebastian van Rooyen ripping the heart out of Waterkloof with figures of 5/11 and there was also a great ton by Roberts of St Alban’s College who was unbeaten on 114 in their match against St.Davids.

Matthew Breetzke was again amongst the runs for Grey High School with another century (118*) and he also took a handy 3/28 to blunt any hopes that Queens College had of victory.

Paul Roos Gim gave Rondebosch the scare of the season when Andre Janse van Rensburg cut through their middle order with 5/37 but it was just not enough to prevent Bosch winning by a single wicket.

We have altered the minimum matches to 8 before a team can be included on the rankings so that may be the reason your team is not appearing this week.
