CRICKET: Affies Unbeaten at St.David's T20 Festival

St. David’s Marist Inanda hosted a highly successful T20 festival which got the ball rolling for the cricket season for most of the school’s who took part.

abAffies who can now lay claim to be one of the most dynamic cricket school’s in the country having produced several Protea players of late including AB de Villiers, were in sublime form and remained unbeaten although they got a scare in their final match against St. Stithians who forced a tie with some excellent disciplined bowling.

There were several standout performances including an incredible bowling spell from Maritzburg College’s Lwandizwa Zuma who bowled his four overs against Rondebosch Boy’s High for a paltry two runs and claimed five scalps in the process! This was duly recognised as the most outstanding feat of the festival and Lwandizwa was awarded the “Best Performance” award.

Rondebosch BH seamer R.Sader was in great form although he was let down by a team who struggled to live with the competition. Sader however bagged eight wickets in total and was adjudged the “Best Bowler” in the festival.

Aiden Markam of Pretoria Boy’s High slugged out a huge 85 runs in their match against Hilton College to get the award as “Most Runs” with Affies opener Driaan Bruwer claiming the overall award as the “Best Batsman” on show with some consistently good performances.

Well done to all who took part and especially to St. David’s who hosted an excellent festival!
